Code: CNX-CLMD
Departure at 08:30 am
Overview
This new three-day biking tour will give you a good impression of the hilly area north of Chiang Mai. During this tour you will discover not only the Thai countryside like no other, but you will also visit a responsible elephant camp. This bike tour is suitable for people with a good condition and have no problem with riding some height.
Itinerary
Day before the trip: Meeting around 6 pm at your hotel.
Day 1:About 65 km with 10 km slightly uphill (L, D).
After a short safety briefing and fitting of the panniers on the racks, we start the tour from the hotel. Through a sophisticated route we leave the city in a fun way. You come into neighborhoods of Chiang Mai that tourists normally never get to see. Outside the city we follow the Ping River upstream, heading north. . The landscape is very varied with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We continue our trip on country roads, passing through small villages and cycling alternately along orchards, rice fields, canals and fields with a wide variety of agricultural crops. As a cyclist you will experience this area in a very unique way. We stay in a beautiful resort on the banks of the Ping River. There is a pool and you can also enjoy a Thai massage.
Day 2: About 40 km, with 4 km uphill (B, L, D).
Early in the morning we visit the nearby "Chiang Dao Elephant Center", originally a training center for the training of young elephants. We will see these beautiful animals, along with their mahout, bathing in the river. This ritual is followed by a thorough presentation of the work they used to do in the forest. After this beautiful demonstration we make a trip by elephant through the nearby jungle. We continue our bike ride and visit a very special temple, rarely visited by non-Thai. The last part we cycle on a gently sloping road to the small beautiful resort where we stay overnight. It is located in "the middle of nowhere" and has a nice pool with great views and a good restaurant.
Day 3:About 50 km (B, L).
After a delicious breakfast we are ready for another beautiful day of cycling. The first part of the route we cycle along country roads through a varied and beautiful landscape. It is one of my favorite routes, which looks a little different in every season. Along the route that follows, there are many places that you can visit and an orchid farm may be well worth a visit. Leaving the area of Mae Rim, we cycle back on quiet country roads. Soon we continue our way along the Ping River that leads us back to Chiang Mai.
