Family bike tour south of Chiang Mai |
Code: CNX-CLHA
Pick up at 08:30 am and 01:30 pm
Overview
This tour is similar to our very popular half day tour south of Chiang Mai (CNX-CLHS) but the starting point being outside the city, makes it very comfortable for families with young children or for less experienced cyclists. This tour will give you a very good impression of the northern Thai culture, history, rural life and scenery. You'll be cycling on carefully selected, quiet roads and lanes and be able to experience the countryside and the Thai way of life.
Itinerary
A covered pick up truck will transfer you to a beautiful and unique Chinese temple located in a quiet area south of Chiang Mai. After a short safety briefing and bike fitting, we begin our bike journey south, following the Ping River downstream. It's pleasant to ride along its green banks. Our first visit is a local temple still under construction, where we gain an insight into the intricacies of temple decorations. We continue our bike trip on back roads, leading us to a former leper colony set in tranquil woodland surroundings. We stop to take a closer look at this centre, founded by the missionaries over a hundred years ago and now a rehabilitation centre. Biking over small country roads you will discover the real rural Thailand. We cycle past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as we meander around the villages on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. We explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam before we transfer you back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
